As a young child, I was always drawn to the dogs. We’d have family events and everyone knew where to find me, with the animals! In fact, I was the child who brought home strays and drove my father crazy. Kimo is the one who is so vivid: I was at Mission Bay in San Diego California walking the boardwalk, “Free puppies” I couldn’t resist. The rest is history, and my love hasn’t changed.

Jescar is a small hobby kennel established in 1995, with the purchase of our first German Shepherd Dog, Ashya. A combination of West German and American bloodlines she taught us a thing or two about the breed. First and foremost that temperament and health are key to a well-balanced dog. Without each, it is impossible to reflect the breed standard.
Our dogs reside outdoors during the day in a covered kennel runs, with plenty of fresh air and a country view. We believe that exercise is one key component to a healthy mind and body. Therefore each of our dogs gets adequate play time in one of our fenced in play yards on a regular basis.
We also believe diet plays a big role the overall health of our canine family, therefore we strive to feed a clean, healthy diet of raw meats, yogurt, and kibble.
In addition to exercise and diet, we are big advocates of training and socialization this starts at birth and continues throughout their life here at Jescar Kennels. It’s a lifestyle!
Over the last several years, we have trained and competed in AKC obedience, herding, agility, and conformation. Our most recent venue has been learning more about the Schutzhund sport in hopes that we may be able to put a BH on one of our youngsters down the road.
In addition to working our own dogs, we occasionally help other breeders with their young dogs. We believe socialization is critical to the development of a young German Shepherd Dog. In our experience, it has shown to build confidence and character. It is our practice here at Jescar Kennels to start early on at exposing our dogs to all types of noises, surfaces and much more. It has truly worked for us.
